My undertakings

Code of practice

Ten undertakings, written so that they can be held against me. You may cite them to me by number, and you would be right to do so.

The divinatory arts are governed by no professional body in France. There is no diploma, no licence, no authority able to withdraw from anyone the right to practise. Anybody can declare themselves a clairvoyant tomorrow morning, and many do. In a trade without safeguards, the only thing a practitioner can offer is a written undertaking, precise, and one that can be held against them.

Here is mine. It confers no title on me and proves nothing by itself. What it does give you is something to judge by, and something to compare with what you will read elsewhere.

  1. I

    Secrecy

    No information concerning your identity or your life is communicated to anyone, in any case and in any form. Nothing you confide in me is shared, published or quoted. Not even anonymised, not even as a teaching example.

    This is the first rule of the art, and it predates by several centuries the laws that guarantee it today.

  2. II

    Free will

    What the chart indicates never takes the place of your free will and never works against it. I forbid myself any encroachment on a person’s free choice, any manipulation, any influence.

    My work is to bring to life in you a sense of responsibility and an autonomy of decision — not to make you come back.

  3. III

    Vulnerability

    I forbid myself to take advantage of a querent’s trust or fragility. I do not give readings to a person in evident psychological distress, and when the case arises I say so gently.

    I do not give readings to minors.

  4. IV

    No work, no ritual, no object

    I practise no unbewitching, no return of a lover, no protection, no lifting of curses, no form of intervention upon another person. I sell no object, no talisman, no preparation.

    No reading of mine ends with the offer of an additional service meant to correct what the chart is said to have revealed. This is the most widespread mechanism of abuse in this world. If a practitioner announces an affliction to which they alone hold the remedy, leave without arguing.

  5. V

    Health

    I forbid myself any prognosis of health, any diagnosis, any announcement of death or of serious illness, and any advice that would amount to interrupting or altering a treatment.

    Faced with a question that belongs to medicine, I direct you to a doctor.

  6. VI

    The limits of my competence

    A geomancy reading is in no case a substitute for medical, legal, psychological, accounting or financial advice. Faced with a matter belonging to one of these fields, I direct you to a qualified professional.

    I do sometimes decline a reading. It is at times the best service I can render.

  7. VII

    Information given beforehand

    Before any reading I inform you of the scope and the limits of this discipline, of the approximate length of the conversation, and of the exact amount of the fee.

    I show you where what I put forward comes from. An answer whose construction I cannot set out has no place in a reading.

  8. VIII

    Fees

    My fees are announced in advance, fixed, without supplement of any kind and without billing by the minute. Nothing is paid for on this site.

    If the chart cast proves unfit for interpretation, we begin again at another hour at no extra cost.

  9. IX

    Independence

    I practise independently and on my own account alone. I am affiliated to no online consultation platform, no network, no introduction service. No one dictates what I must tell you, and no one takes a commission on what you pay me.

    I am in good standing under French social security and tax law.

  10. X

    Plain speaking

    I do not sweeten what the chart shows. You have not paid to be reassured.

    A reading has succeeded when you leave it not reassured but enlightened. These are not the same thing, and it is the only promise I make.
